HISTORY OF LUIGI'S
LUIGIS HAS BEEN SERVING THE HUDSON
VALLEY SINCE 1987, WITH RESTAURANTS IN STAATSBURG NY, HYDE PARK, AND NOW WAPPINGERS
FALLS. BUT IT ALL BEGAN IN
1969 WHEN GIUSEPPE AND CARMELINA NARDI MOVED TO THE BRONX NY FROM THE SMALL RUSTIC TOWN OF CAROLEI, IN SOUTHERN ITALY.
YEARS PASSED AS CARMELINA BECAME
A MOTHER OF THREE BOYS AND GIUSEPPE SHARPENED HIS CRAFT IN LUIGIS RESTAURANT (NAMED AFTER HIS YOUNGEST SON) IN STAATSBURG
AND HYDE PARK NY. THE FOCUS HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON FRESH HOMEMADE ITALIAN FAVORITES,
PREPARED IN HOUSE BY FAMILY.
AS
TIME WENT ON EACH SON ENJOYED THEIR TIME IN THE RESTAURANT. AS FRANK (THE OLDEST) MOVED ON TO CHARLOTTE NC AND JOSEPH CONTINUED
SERVING THE AREA IN THE AUTOMOTIVE FIELD, LUIGIS INTEREST IN THE RESTAURANT GREW.
IN 1997 LUIGI AND HIS PARENTS
OPENED LUIGIS GOURMET PIZZA IN HARK PLAZA WAPPINGERS FALLS. THE THREE ALWAYS ENJOYED BUILDING FRIENDSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY.
THEY PROVIDED FOOD THAT SHOWED THEY APPRECIATED THE CUSTOMER, BY OFFERING PASTAS
AND GOURMET PIZZA THAT WERE DIFFERENT AND ALWAYS CENTERED ON QUALITY.
IN 2006, AFTER 2 YEARS AWAY FROM
THE BUSINESS, THE THREE REOPENED UNDER LUIGIS PIZZA AND GRILLE WITH A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FOCUS. WHILE THE MENU STILL FEATURED
CLASSIC FAVORITES, SUCH AS HOMEMADE LASAGNA AND CHICKEN PARMIGIANA, THEY WANTED TO OFFER MORE. A WARMER ATMOSPHERE ENCOURAGED
A MENU DRIVEN BY A LARGE SELECTION OF ENTREES THAT COULDN’T BE FOUND ELSEWHERE. ALL OF WHICH WERE INSPIRED BY FAMILY
RECIPES AND A DESIRE TO GIVE EACH CUSTOMER WHAT THEY WANTED.
TWO YEARS LATER LUIGIS IS PROUD
TO OFFER WEEKEND DINNER SPECIALS FOR EAT-IN OR TAKEOUT, AND STARTING IN MAY, BEER AND WINE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS. WE LOOK FORWARD
TO MEETING ALL OF YOUR EXPECTATIONS AND ARE SURE THAT ONCE YOU TRY LUIGIS WE WILL BE YOUR LOCAL FAVORITE.
